Waverley Council required a tourism site to act as a virtual tourism information centre. The site would be the default landing page after connecting to the free WiFi which is currently being rolled out across Bondi Beach, Bondi Junction and surrounding suburbs. The site would need to accommodate up to ½ million hits per day in peak season.
Leonards recommended the site be built using WordPress, due to its ease of use for Council when updating, and for its large plugin collection. The site had the capability of integrating with a number of services useful to tourists in the area and accommodates a comfortable viewing experience on any device due to the mobile-first approach adopted.
Over a million users have accessed and used hellobondi.com.au and is anticipated to peak during the summer season. Stage 2 of the website is about to commence to create a more interactive experience for the users.
